MiBox Live is a powerful idea: a fun, interactive way to help young people build confidence in maths through a combination of a physical board game and a mobile app. The vision was clever, the product had real potential, and the founder had put everything into bringing it to life. But by the time they found us, that vision was hanging by a thread.
Their original app had been built in Unreal Engine. On paper, it sounded exciting. In reality, it became a slow, fragile, overcomplicated build that was draining time, money and energy. Deadlines kept slipping. Fixes took far too long. Communication broke down. Every promised “next version” seemed to come with new problems. MiBox Live weren’t just frustrated – they were exhausted.
This wasn’t just a technical issue. It was having a very real impact on the founder’s health and wellbeing. When we first sat down with them, it was obvious how much this situation had taken out of them. Sleepless nights, constant worry about what to tell investors and partners, and the sinking feeling that they might have to write off everything they’d already spent. The stress of being repeatedly let down by their previous developer was starting to affect both their mental and physical health.
At the same time, the business itself was under pressure. Funders were asking questions. Schools and education partners were waiting for a product they’d been promised. Cash had already gone into development, yet there was no stable app to show for it. Every delay made it harder to plan marketing, sales, or launch dates. MiBox Live were trying to hold everything together, but the tech – the very thing the whole product depended on – simply wasn’t reliable.
That’s exactly the kind of situation we’re built to step into. At Resolve Beyond, we specialise in projects that are in trouble: half-finished apps, platforms that other developers are scared to touch, and products where the pressure is already intense. Our approach is always the same: fix-first thinking, honesty, and a plan that protects what’s already been invested wherever possible.
The first thing we did was listen. We wanted to understand not just the code, but the story. How had they ended up here? What had been promised and not delivered? What deadlines actually mattered? As we went through it all, you could see the relief of finally talking to a team that wasn’t making excuses or downplaying the situation. We were straight with them: the Unreal build was dragging them under, and continuing on that path would only make things worse.
We then carried out a detailed technical review. The conclusion was clear – the existing approach was too heavy, too specialist, and too difficult to maintain for what MiBox Live actually needed. We recommended rebuilding the app in Flutter. That meant one codebase for iOS and Android, faster development, easier maintenance, and a much stronger foundation for the future. Most importantly, it meant giving MiBox Live a realistic way out of the mess they’d been left in.
Together, we agreed a focused six-week rescue plan. This wasn’t a fluffy “we’ll see how we get on” arrangement. It was a clear commitment: stabilise the project, get a solid Flutter version of the app built, and put MiBox Live in a position where they could finally move forward. We set up proper environments, defined what absolutely needed to be in the first release, and created a roadmap for everything that could follow once they were back on stable ground.
Over those six weeks, we rebuilt the app with care and urgency. We turned what had been a source of stress into something the founder could finally feel proud of. We kept communication open and honest throughout, with regular demos and updates so they were never left wondering what was happening. Piece by piece, the app became something stable, predictable and real – not just another promise.
By the end of that period, MiBox Live had what they’d been chasing for months: a working, maintainable, launch-ready Flutter app. The difference in the founder was noticeable. Instead of apologising to stakeholders and worrying about yet another missed milestone, they could finally talk with confidence about timelines, features and the future. The constant knot of stress eased because they knew the technology was no longer the weak link in their business.
For MiBox Live, this rescue meant more than just new code. It meant their health could start to recover from months of pressure. It meant their business could get back on track instead of haemorrhaging time and money into a dead-end build. It meant they could focus on partnerships, schools, and growth – the things they went into this business to do in the first place.
And that’s really the heart of what we do at Resolve Beyond. Yes, we fix apps, platforms and integrations that others walk away from. But more than that, we step into situations where founders have been let down, worn out and pushed to the edge, and we give them back control. MiBox Live is a perfect example: a brilliant idea, nearly derailed by the wrong technical path and broken promises – now back on solid ground with a Flutter app that can actually support the ambition behind it.
If you’re reading this and recognise some of MiBox Live’s story in your own situation – the missed deadlines, the broken trust, the impact on your health and your business – you don’t have to keep fighting it alone or throw everything away. There is usually a way to rethink without restarting, and a way to rescue what you’ve already built.
That’s exactly what we did for MiBox Live. And it’s exactly what we can do for you.

Christopher’s story sums up why we do what we do. Most platforms don’t need tearing down, they just need someone willing to fix them properly. Saving Mi-Box Live was a reminder of how much that can mean to the person behind the idea.
