Case study 09 - Magento 2 · Epicor ERP Integration

An Epicor integration left unfinished.
We made it work.

The Expanded Metal Company had a Magento 2 platform with an Epicor connection that previous suppliers had been unable to complete. We traced the ordering workflow, resolved the API and data-handling issues and delivered a working, stable connection in four weeks.

The technical problem

The website was only one part of the system.

Behind The Expanded Metal Company’s Magento store was Epicor, supporting orders and internal operations. The connection between the two systems had never been completed properly, so this was not a case of fixing a single page or extension.

We had to understand how data moved through the existing ordering journey, where the integration was failing and what needed changing without disrupting a live ecommerce operation.

What we inherited
✗An unfinished Magento to Epicor connection
✗ Previous suppliers had been unable to complete it
✗API and data-handling issues within the order flow
✗ A live Magento platform with existing quotation and functionality issues
“
Complex integrations usually aren’t impossible. You just need to understand where the data stops moving.

The integration sat inside a wider Magento takeover, but this was a technical project in its own right: understand an inherited connection, find the failure points and finish what had already consumed time elsewhere.

The Recovery

First, we had to understand why it wasn’t working.

The Epicor integration had already been attempted, but it had never been completed properly. Rather than starting again, we worked through the existing setup to understand how Magento and Epicor were meant to communicate and where the process was breaking down.

That meant tracing the integration from end to end, identifying the gaps and working through each part of the journey before anything new was added.

Understand it before changing it.

We kept what could be used, fixed what was failing and avoided throwing away work unnecessarily.

The Delivery

Not a plugin install. A full integration journey.

Once we understood the existing setup, we completed the connection between Magento and Epicor and tested the full journey until the two systems were working together properly.

The result was a working Epicor integration delivered in 4 weeks, with Resolve Beyond continuing to support and develop the connection as the business needed more from it.

Ongoing Epicor support includes
