Case Study 02 - WordPress to Shopify Redevelopment

A faster website,
the same luxury feel.

We first took over and supported Drummonds Bathrooms’ existing WordPress website. But even after resolving immediate issues, the site’s speed remained restricted by the platform and its image-heavy design. Reducing the quality of the photography was not an option for a luxury brand, so we helped Drummonds take the next step: a full Shopify redevelopment built around performance, premium presentation and a better experience across its international markets.

The full story

The relationship began with support, then grew into a full redevelopment.

Drummonds Bathrooms is a luxury bathroom brand with showrooms in London and New York. Its website has to do more than display products. It must reflect the quality, detail and craftsmanship of the brand while giving customers in different markets a smooth and reliable experience.

Resolve Beyond initially stepped in to take over the existing WordPress website and provide the day-to-day support Drummonds needed. We learned the setup, dealt with immediate issues, improved hosting, supported GeoTagging and helped connect HubSpot and the wider customer journey.

However, the website continued to feel slow. Drummonds’ large, high-quality photography was central to the brand, so simply compressing images more heavily or stripping back the visual experience would have solved one problem by creating another. Rather than compromise the brand, we recommended rebuilding the website on Shopify.

The challenge we had to solve

Improve performance

Create a faster, more responsive experience and reduce the friction customers felt when browsing the site.

Protect the visual standard

Keep the large, detailed imagery that gives Drummonds its premium look rather than solving speed by weakening the brand.

Support multiple markets

Build in the correct navigation, currencies, location handling and product experience for international customers.

Make future changes easier

Give the internal team and development team a cleaner platform for ongoing content, product and feature improvements.

Resolve Beyond's ability to take over our previously developed website and provide immediate support was truly impressive. They handled all necessary updates, set up GeoTagging, and seamlessly transitioned our hosting and product customisations. Their expertise in integrating HubSpot CRM was a game-changer for us. The speed and efficiency with which they managed everything have been remarkable.

November to May

A redevelopment timeline built around careful delivery, not a rushed handover.

The main Shopify redevelopment ran from November through February. The months that followed were just as important: gathering and checking content, working through feedback, testing market-specific journeys and preparing every part of the launch before the new site went live in May.

November • Discovery and direction
Understanding the limits of the WordPress site
We reviewed the existing website, the ongoing performance issues and the importance of Drummonds’ image quality. It became clear that faster speeds could not come at the expense of the premium visual experience, so Shopify was agreed as the right direction for the redevelopment.
December • Shopify foundations
Setting up the structure for the new store
The new Shopify setup began with theme foundations, core templates, navigation planning and product structure. We also mapped the differences between the UK and US experiences while continuing to support the live WordPress site so day-to-day trading was not disrupted.
January • Core build and functionality
Building key journeys and market-specific functionality
We developed the main page types, configured currencies and markets, built around Drummonds’ quote-led sales process and worked through content and product requirements. Feedback and questions were translated into clear actions as the redevelopment progressed.
February • Redevelopment completed
The new Shopify build was ready for detailed review
By February, the core redevelopment had been completed. From here, the focus moved into detailed review, refinement and practical day-to-day support as the Drummonds team worked through the new site in more depth.
March & April • Review and launch preparation
Refining the site and preparing everything for go-live
This stage covered content population, responsive checks, quote journeys, forms, menus, redirects, market-specific adjustments and client review rounds. We kept the project moving by consolidating feedback, coordinating developers and checking work internally before sign-off.
May • Launch and aftercare
A controlled launch with support around it
The Shopify site launched in May. We coordinated the go-live, carried out checks across key journeys and remained close to the project afterwards, dealing with post-launch observations and continuing development once the new site was live.

May
site launched live
This was not a quick switch. It was a phased redevelopment supported by ongoing communication, testing, review rounds and live-site support throughout.
What ran alongside the timeline
Ongoing speed limitations on the existing WordPress site
No appetite to reduce the quality of luxury imagery
Need to keep the live site supported during redevelopment
Shopify selected for better speed and scalability
Luxury look and feel protected through the redesign
Launch delivered with support before, during and after go-live
Throughout the project
The existing site still had to work.
Redevelopment did not pause day-to-day business. While the Shopify build was underway, we continued supporting the live WordPress website, responding to issues, managing requests and keeping the current customer experience stable. That parallel support is a major part of what made the transition manageable for the Drummonds team.
The result

A Shopify site that feels faster and looks more like Drummonds.

The redevelopment gave Drummonds a stronger technical foundation without making the site feel stripped back or generic. The photography remains central, but the overall experience is cleaner, more responsive and easier to develop.

An image-rich WordPress site with limited room to improve × Slow browsing experience despite ongoing optimisation × Further image compression risked weakening the luxury presentation × Existing setup made market and feature changes more complex × More reliance on custom fixes to keep the experience moving forward

After

A purpose-built Shopify experience with room to grow

Faster, cleaner browsing across desktop and mobile
✓High-quality imagery remains a defining part of the design
✓Multi-market journeys, currencies and navigation built in
✓A more flexible base for ongoing features and improvements
