Case study 07 - WordPress · Charity

A better website, without taking a penny from the frontline.

Hartlepool Ambulance Charity provides CPR training, emergency first-response volunteers and vital support across the local community. Through our Resolved Changing Lives initiative, we donated the full website strategy, design and development so the charity could grow its online presence while keeping its funds focused on lifesaving work.

The situation

The charity needed a stronger digital presence. Its budget needed to stay on the frontline.

Hartlepool Ambulance Charity carries out vital work across the local community, from delivering CPR and defibrillator training to supporting emergency first-response volunteers.

As a charity funded entirely through donations and fundraising, every pound matters. Paying for a new website would have meant taking money away from medical equipment, volunteer training and frontline services.

As a Hartlepool-based business, we did not want the charity to have to make that choice. Through our Resolved Changing Lives initiative, we provided the strategy, design and development completely free of charge.

The Challenge
✗The charity relies entirely on donations and fundraising
✗Its online presence needed to better reflect the importance of its work
✗Training, volunteering and fundraising information needed clearer routes
✗Limited funds needed to remain focused on frontline services
“
Having a professional, semi-commercial website that truly tells the story of who we are and what we do will also be a game-changer when it comes to bidding for funding.

How it came together

Built around how people support the charity.

This was not a basic brochure website. Every part of the platform was planned around the people who train, volunteer, fundraise and support the charity.

01 · The need
A better website was needed, but the frontline came first
The charity needed a professional online presence without using funds that were needed for equipment, training and lifesaving community services.
02 · The offer
The full project donated through Resolved Changing Lives
Resolve Beyond donated the strategy, design and development in full, allowing the charity to strengthen its online presence at no cost.
03 · The planning
Clear routes for every type of supporter
We worked with the charity to understand what families, volunteers, businesses and supporters needed to find, then shaped the site around those journeys.
04 · The build
Training, volunteering, fundraising and news in one place
The WordPress platform brought together course information, volunteer applications, the Supportive Patron Programme and community updates in a clear and accessible structure.
05 · The result
A professional digital home that keeps creating value
The charity can now build trust, recruit volunteers, promote training and support fundraising while keeping its hard-earned funds focused on frontline work.

What was at stake
✗The existing website was not doing enough for the charity
✗No clear online route for donations
✗No simple way for volunteers to apply
✗Training, support and community activity were difficult to find
✓Donations given a clear place on the website
✓Volunteer applications built into the journey
✓Training, patron support and community information brought together
✓A stronger platform for fundraising, trust and ongoing support
A website should help the charity do more, not take money away from the work.
This project gave Hartlepool Ambulance Charity a platform that can keep supporting fundraising, volunteering and community trust.

Our Approach

We built the platform around how people support the charity.

We worked closely with the charity’s team to understand how local families, volunteers, businesses and supporters needed to use the website.

Rather than creating a basic brochure site, we developed a digital hub with clear routes into the charity’s services, training opportunities and ways to get involved.

Built to create ongoing value

The website was planned as a working platform for the charity, helping people take action, understand its impact and build confidence in the organisation.

The outcome

A professional digital home, with no money taken away from frontline services.

Hartlepool Ambulance Charity now has a modern and trustworthy website that better represents the work its volunteers carry out every day.

It is easier for people to learn about training, volunteer their time, support the charity and understand the difference it makes across Hartlepool. By donating the full project, the charity’s funds stayed exactly where they belong: supporting equipment, training and lifesaving work on the frontline.
